ORCHESTRA AND CHOIR

of the Festival Bach Montréal (OCFBM)

An extraordinary ensemble

Since its creation in 2018, the Montreal Bach Festival Orchestra and Choir has been an ensemble that comes together each year especially for the festival season. It performs a series of concerts on the occasion of the festival’s official opening and closing…

Local artists…

In keeping with the tradition of major international music festivals, the Orchestra is made up predominantly of professional musicians from major orchestras such as the Orchestral Symphonious de Montréal (OSM) and includes a few exceptional young artists and students at the start of their careers. The performers are granted a temporary absence from their respective orchestras to perform on stage for the festival.
All the musicians in the Orchestra are selected and invited by the festival’s orchestral committee, which offers local talent a unique opportunity to join forces and take part in exciting, ambitious projects such as the FBM.

…under prestigious management

Each year, an internationally renowned conductor takes the baton. Accompanied by talented soloists, he or she offers a particular interpretation of a major work from the classical repertoire!
This enables the guest musicians and conductor to share their talents over a period of several weeks to offer festival-goers a unique concert. A true spirit of camaraderie and artistic complicity is established between the artists, who share a human as well as a musical experience!
