The 19th edition of the Festival International Bach Montr\u00e9al takes place from November 15 to December 7, 2025! With the tagline: ‘Better is good’, the 2025 line-up includes..:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Large-scale sacred music<\/b>
    \n<\/span>The opening and closing concerts will bring together choir and orchestra to perform Mendelssohn’s oratorio <\/span>Elijah<\/span><\/i> and Bach’s <\/span>St John Passion<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Superstar countertenor<\/b>
    \n<\/b>The festival welcomes world-renowned countertenor and breakdancer Jakub J\u00f3zef Orli\u0144ski, accompanied by Michal Biel on piano.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Bach and modernity<\/b>
    \n<\/span>The 18th and 20th centuries meet. Jazz improvisations on J.S. Bach (Paul Lay Trio), Bach and Piazzolla (Th\u00e9o Ould), Bach and Satie (Thomas Dunford).<\/span>

  4. Pillars of the canon <\/b>
    \n<\/span>From Bach, the six keyboard Partitas<\/em> (Schaghajegh Nosrati) and excerpts from The Well Tempered Clavier<\/em> (Phantasm), from Vivaldi, The Four Seasons<\/em> (Les Arts Florissants).<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Virtuoso performers in solo or small ensemble<\/b>
    \n<\/b>We are honored to welcome Sergei Babayan (solo piano), Luc Beaus\u00e9jour (solo harpsichord), and the Ensemble Mirabilia with soprano Myriam Leblanc.<\/span>

  6. Bach Festival classics<\/b>
    \n<\/span>As every year, the festival presents the Bach incognito children\u2019s concert, the Night of Choirs, and organ concerts at Saint Joseph’s Oratory.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Off-Bach<\/b>
    \n<\/b>Alongside the official program, our entirely free Off-Bach festival welcomes the general public to (re)discover classical music outside its usual context.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

The addition of the qualifier \u201cinternational\u201d reflects the spirit that has guided our event from the beginning: to welcome exceptional artists from around the world alongside remarkable local talent, to create ties beyond borders, and to share the universal music of Bach with an ever-growing community that travels from increasingly distant places to meet in Montreal.\u201d e<\/span><\/i>xplains Alexandra Scheibler, the festival\u2019s artistic director.<\/span>
