You might feel this sounds a lot like Mozart …yes indeed. The galant style of the two youngest sons of J.S. Bach points directly in this direction. Johan Christian was the super star of the galant style, being at home at the big course in Milano, Napoli, London and Mannheim. Christoph Friedrich Bach in his later years, although he always stayed in Bückeburg, copied his brother’s style and obviously studied the symphonies of Haydn very well. The most mature compositions of the brothers are part of this concert’s program.

Mozart said to his father in a letter from Paris 1778: “Mr. Bach (Johann Christian Bach) from London has been here for 14 days. You can imagine his joy and my joy when we met again. I love him, as you know, with all my heart.”

After conducting the Festival Orchestra in 2019, German conductor Reinhard Goebel returns for its 2023 edition, accompanied by young pianist Schaghajegh Nosrati in a concert that will resonate the music of the Bach dynasty.
